What is Dental Implant? Dental implants, also known as implant grafting, is the optimal current method of restoring missing teeth by inserting a metal post into the jawbone. This treatment method helps replace missing teeth with completely new implanted teeth.
What Is Dental Implant?
Dental implants have been a popular method of tooth restoration for over 60 years worldwide and over 20 years in Vietnam. The dental implant method can replace one or multiple teeth, or even an entire arch.
By using artificial implant tooth roots to replace missing teeth, this helps limit jawbone resorption. At the same time, it ensures the function of an aesthetic and easy chewing ability.
Currently, there are many different methods for replacing missing teeth such as dental bridges, removable dentures… However, these methods can still lead to bone resorption. Therefore, dental implants are a highly aesthetic tooth replacement method that does not cause bone resorption and ensures good chewing function.

What Cases Should Get Dental Implants?
Dental implants can be performed at any position on the jaw. The implant post does not oxidize in the oral environment, so this is completely safe for long-term use.
Additionally, the post body has a spiral threaded design along the length. This increases the surface area contacting the jawbone, helping the implant integrate firmly and withstand high chewing forces. Therefore, with proper care, the lifespan of a dental implant can last a lifetime.
Cases That Should Get Dental Implants
- When a person is missing one or more teeth, or an entire arch, dental implants can be used to restore them. This avoids having to grind down adjacent teeth like with dental bridges. Additionally, it prevents bone resorption.
- Severely decayed, damaged, or loose teeth that cannot be restored should be extracted and replaced with dental implants to preserve the bone tissue.
- People who have been missing teeth for a long time and have been wearing removable dentures, which are inconvenient, can get dental implants for a fixed, secure chewing ability.
- Anyone with good general health who has lost one or more teeth is a candidate for dental implants to permanently replace the missing teeth and preserve jawbone.
Not Everyone Can Get Dental Implants

Compared to the cost of other regular tooth replacement methods such as porcelain crowns or removable dentures, the cost of the dental implant method can be relatively high. However, in terms of quality, durability and effectiveness, dental implants are well worth the cost that patients pay.
When you come to Nha Khoa Trong Rang Sai Gon (Saigon Dental Implant Clinic), our team of dentists will examine you and determine the full cost for your dental implant treatment. Additionally, we offer an INSTALLMENT PLAN FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS to assist patients with payments. Patients will have full transparency and peace of mind about the costs before proceeding with treatment.
Are Dental Implants Painful?
To perform a dental implant, the dentist will surgically place the implant post directly into the jawbone to replace the missing tooth root. This procedure takes around 10-15 minutes per implant post. It may sound painful, but before placing the implant, you will receive local anesthesia in the area surrounding the implant site and on the cheek area. The dosage and duration of the anesthesia will be calculated by the dentist for your specific case. Therefore, you can rest assured that you will NOT feel any pain throughout the entire treatment process.
How Long Does It Take to Get Dental Implants?
Typically, the implant placement surgery takes around 20-30 minutes. After that, the patient needs 1-3 months for the implant to integrate with the jawbone. The dentist will then restore the implant with a porcelain crown to complete the implant process. The dental implant timeline falls into two cases:
- For patients who have recently lost teeth and have sufficient jawbone quantity/quality: The time from implant placement to the final crown restoration takes 4-6 weeks.
- For patients who have been missing teeth for a long time with significant bone loss, gum recession, or insufficient bone to securely hold the implant: Additional procedures like gum grafting, bone grafting or sinus lifts may be needed first. Therefore, the overall time can be extended longer.

Reliable Dental Implants for Lifetime Use
Currently, dental implants are considered the optimal method for restoring missing teeth. Not only do they improve chewing ability, but they also provide a bright, aesthetic smile. However, compared to other conventional tooth replacement methods, dental implants have higher requirements. It can be said that this is a technically complex procedure, with strict criteria for the dentist, equipment, and technology involved. The following criteria should be considered when choosing where to get dental implants:
1. Modern Dental Implant Technology and Techniques Are Required
